Making next generation lithium ion batteries recyclable by design
The global Li-ion battery industry is growing exponentially, driven by the automotive sector. Battery demand is expected to grow about 10-fold, reaching a total capacity of 5,500 GWh in 2030. So far, recycling has been neglected and not been a priority. eightinks aims to recycle the materials used in next-generation lithium ion batteries directly and therefore more efficiently.
We have designed a solid-state battery in a way that we can fully recover all functional parts instead of decomposing it down to elemental constituents.
